What’s my name again?
As a teacher I have to learn over a hundred names a year of all the new children I meet in my classes each September. Calling a register each lesson and having my pupils test me on remembering their names helps. It takes time but I do get there in the end! It is a different matter when I am introduced to adults. You usually get once chance at finding out a name, and if you are introduced to several people at the same time I’m afraid I don’t stand much of a chance!
At BlogFest in November I met loads of new bloggers so I not only had to try to remember their names, but also the name of their blog. We were issued name badges on lanyards, but this did involve looking like you were staring at your fellow bloggers’ boobs whilst you were trying to remind yourself of their name.
I have got tickets to two blogging events this year, Blog On Cymru in March and BritMums Live in June, and to help me out, the lovely people at Simoney Badges have designed a badge for me with my name and blog address on it. I love the fact that I have something that is personal to me, as opposed to the generic name badges on lanyards which will no doubt be issued at both of these events.
*I received this badge from Simoney Badges in exchange for me sharing about it with my readers*
It’s amazing how names stick, though. I still meet ex pupils out and about whom I haven’t seen for more than 20 years, but can usually conjure up at least their first name.
That is brilliant! Hope my memory is as good as that!
