UV FloatSuit from Splash About
I wouldn’t normally have bought something like this for the girls because their swimming lessons involve teaching them to become confident in the water without the use of swimming aids. However, both the girls love swimming and on my day off Freyja frequently asks me to take them swimming which I just don’t feel confident doing myself.
Freyja was very excited when the FloatSuit arrived and wanted to try it on as soon as possible. Even though she is still 3, I ordered the largest size for ages 4-6 as she is tall for her age and it fitted her absolutely fine.
It will be perfect for our summer holiday as it is UPF 50+ so Freyja will be protected from the sun and it is also sandproof and windproof so will be ideal on the beach. As you can see from these photos it also has plenty of room to move in too!
Normally when we take Freyja swimming she likes to stay very close to us, so I was amazed by just how different she was when we took her swimming in it. She had so much confidence. She was off! She even went down a water slide. Multiple times. This is the child who is nervous going down normal slides at the park and here she was laughing as she sploshed into the water, swimming to the side, climbing out and doing it all over again. She was a different person.
The positioning of the floats in the FloatSuit means that they are held in a natural swim position and the idea is that you are able to remove the floats as they learn to swim and become more confident in the water. There are 16 floats in total – 2 in each of the eight sections – so there is lots of flexibility in terms of how many you remove at a time depending on your child.
Unfortunately we are unable to take photos at public swimming pools due to their restrictions with recording devices, but if you want to see how happy Freyja was in the water with her new FloatSuit, here she is on our recent holiday with me in the hot tub.
The only negative point I have about the FloatSuit is it is a bit tight to get off when wet whilst it still has the floats inside it.
Disclaimer: We were sent the FloatSuit free to review but (as always) this is a completely honest review
