The #MyAquaphor Challenge
Having sensitive skin, I always take care to moisturise my skin. It is a habit that I started when I was a lot younger, and as a result, my skin copes pretty well with the cold, windy weather at this time of the year. However, it seems that both of my girls’ skin is similar to mine. This time of year is horrible for their skin. For Freyja, she gets chapped lips which become itchy. She will then rub her skin, resulting in red raw patches around her mouth. She then gets upset and self-conscious about this. Emily has also started getting a winter rash around her nose and mouth.
I jumped at the chance to take part in Britmums #MyAquaphor Challenge, in the hope that I would find something that helps my girls’ skin at this time of the year. Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm is gentle enough to be used on babies’ sensitive skin, and so I felt confident using it with Freyja and Emily. I hadn’t heard of Eurecin Aquaphor before this challenge, but it has been around for quite some time – introduced to the US market back in 1925. It is gentle enough to use on highly irritated skin – such as the red raw patches Freyja gets around her mouth, and definitely soothes her sore skin.
The balm helps to protect the skin by creating a barrier, which also lets the skin breathe. This means that the girls can apply the balm before going outside, sealing moisture into the skin and not letting it dry out as they play outside – whatever the weather. It is also useful for applying before swimming lessons, so that the chlorine from the swimming pool doesn’t exacerbate the problem.
I haven’t been able to resist using it too. Although the balm feels quite greasy as it goes on, it has definitely helped protect my skin when I have been out in a cold wind. It also makes a fantastic lip balm! I have even started to notice it having a positive effect on my cracked heels. Usually, I have the problem with the girls pinching my moisturising products, but with Eurecin Aquaphor, it has been the other way around!
