Skinfix Skin Care
I have always had sensitive skin and I have to be careful what products I use on it. I am, therefore, always very conscious with what I put on my girls’ skin as I don’t want them to have to suffer the same irritation that I have. I hate the idea of products being full of lots of nasty, unnecessary chemicals. I was happy to give some new skin care products from Canadian company Skinfix a try on their delicate skin, as they were free from sulfates, parabens and phthalates as well as being free from tree nut and peanut ingredients. We were sent Skinfix Hair & Body Wash, Lotion, Nappy Balm and Eczema Balm.
Skinfix Baby Gentle Hair & Body Wash is a 2-in-1 product designed to gently clean delicate skin as well as hair without irritating the scalp. I found it cleaned the girls well, leaving their skin and hair feeling soft, however, they both needed conditioner on their hair afterwards to help brush out the tangles.
Skinfix Baby Gentle Lotion is recommended after a bath. The lotion wasn’t thick and sticky like a lot of moisturising creams designed for dry skin can be and it felt lovely on the skin. It left the girls skin feeling soft, supple and silky, and only a little was actually needed.
I have used the Skinfix Baby Nappy Balm on Emily before she has her nappy on at night. It contains zinc oxide and allantoin (from the comfrey plant) to help soothe redness and jojoba and sunflower oils to moisturise the skin. It is just as good as other nappy care products that I have used with her.
I haven’t really needed to use the Skinfix Baby Gentle Eczema Balm on either of the girls as thankfully neither of my girls have shown any signs of eczema yet, however, after breaking my ankle and spending a lot of the first week after that crawling on all fours, the balm was really nice on the very dry skin that I had on my knees.
All of these products are fragrance-free. Obviously, they do have a smell to them, which isn’t unpleasant but I wasn’t particularly keen on it. If your children do suffer from eczema or have particularly dry skin, it is worth checking their products out – especially as it is on offer at Boots.
