We always planned to have two children, and it gives me so much pleasure to see Freyja and Emily together as the majority of the time they are great with each other. Emily adores her big sister. If Emily is ever upset, a mummy cuddle always fixes the problem, but the sight of her big sister can raise a smile a lot faster than mummy. Freyja loves Emily. She loves cuddling her and making Emily laugh. But, of course, having a sister is not without it’s challenges.
Freyja threw several tantrums this morning all within the space of about ten minutes for the following reasons:
Emily wanted to play with Freyja’s toys.
Emily looked at Freyja.
Emily looked at one of Freyja’s toys.
Emily crawled and sat by Freyja.
Emily played with a toy that Freyja wasn’t playing with.
I took one of Emily’s toys away from Freyja so that Emily could play with that rather than Freyja’s toys.
There were tears, screams and shouting. Then, Emily crawling up to Freyja’s box of toys, took out one of her little people and passed it to Freyja. Then she got another and did the same. And all of a sudden peace was restored and they sat, sort-of playing together. And faith in the decision to have two children was restored.
