Puddles and Bubbles
I was disappointed when I woke up on my day off this week to find it was raining, knowing that this would put a dampener on plans for the day. However, things brightened up and it seemed a perfect opportunity to test out Emily’s new wellies. We decided to go ”puddle jumping”! However, Freyja thought I said we would go “bubble jumping” so insisted on bringing a pot of bubble mixture with us.
We didn’t need to go far as both the girls immediately found a suitable puddle on the drive. Freyja was straight in with her wellies, but Emily just wanted to splash with her hands.
When Freyja had had enough of that puddle, we were off down the road and under the pathway and cycle path which runs behind our house. The girls can safely walk along here without holding my hand, but Freyja took on big sister responsibilities and looked after Emily – who was thoroughly enjoying the freedom.
When we got to the nearby fields the girls had lots of fun running around and chasing the bubbles that I blew for them, chasing each other around and the picking up handfuls of recently mown grass and throwing it around.
Freyja loved splashing around in a huge puddle on the way home, whilst Emily – who had probably walked the furthest she had ever done so far – enjoyed cuddles whilst I carried her back home.
So although the weather could have potentially spoilt our day, we used the rain to our advantage and had lots of fun literally on our doorstep!
