NOW TV Kids Pass
Whilst I don’t like to let my girls watch hours of TV, sometimes TV can be a real godsend. For a start, it means that I can go to the toilet without an audience, or cook a meal without World War 3 kicking off. Sometimes the TV can let me down. Commercial breaks or the end of a recorded programme will usually cause the girls to come and find me, and put a stop to my munching on the secret chocolate stash, or worse, make me have to share it.
Thankfully NOW TV has just launched their Kids Pass which provides six live channels (Nickelodeon, Nick Jr, Nicktoons, Boomerang, Cartoon Network and Cartoonito) and loads of episodes and box sets available on demand from these channels and also CBeebies, CBBC and Milkshake!
There is an easy-to-navigate, space-themed interface and also a “favourites rail” where the service learns what your children like so they can access these programmes quickly and easily. The best feature is the next episode auto-play, so the next episode of whatever they are watching starts, so no hurrying into the kitchen or bathroom to find you – and you can continue weeing or cramming chocolate into your mouth happy in the knowledge that you won’t get disturbed! There are also additional controls for parents, including a parental PIN which allows you to set restrictions on what your children are watching.
It didn’t take my two long to find their favourites, and very quickly, they had got through a couple of episodes of Peppa Pig. There was such a lot of choice, which is obviously good, but this also means that they could discover some new favourites which become even more annoying that than bossy little pig!
Our NOW TV remote control is pink, and therefore Freyja believes it is her own personal remote. It hasn’t taken her too long to get the hang of what to do and navigate between the different programmes. She currently loves Scooby Doo (or Scooby Dooby as Emily calls it) and the episode she found I swear is one that I had seen about 30 years ago!
The NOW TV Kids pass is great in that it is available without a contract at £2.99 a month. With the summer holidays on the horizon I am hoping that we can have a few lazy mornings, snuggled up together watching some TV, or even being able to have a shower and get dressed in the morning without an audience!
