Emily’s birthday necklace from Molly Brown London
Emily has just turned 5 years old! In my head, she is still my baby, but in reality she is growing up into a little girl with a big personality. She is reading and writing. She seems to make friends easily. She loves dancing and playing games and dressing up. She has a huge box of plastic jewellery which she had for her birthday last year. She loves adorning herself with beads, bracelets, rings and tiaras. However, Emily also has an eye for more refined pieces. She likes trying on my rings, and I sometimes catch her ogling my jewellery box. I couldn’t say yes quick enough to the lovely people at Molly Brown London when they asked if they could send Emily something from their range. If Emily has her own jewellery to wear, hopefully it will keep her away from mine!
Molly Brown London is an award-winning children’s jewellery brand. They sell a huge variety of necklaces, bracelets and earrings for children. They also have lovely flower girl and christening jewellery. My little magpie-girl eyes up any of my jewellery with diamonds in, so something from the “My First Diamond” range seemed particularly apt for her. I couldn’t resist the Kiss necklace. It seemed completely appropriate for the little girl who flings her arms around my neck and kisses me, to have a little kiss hung around hers.
Emily was very excited about receiving the necklace just in time for her birthday party. I think her excitement was intensified further by the packaging. I gave her the signature Molly Brown gift bag, which is in her favourite colour pink and tied with a chocolate-brown bow.
Inside this was the presentation box. Again, Emily had to untie a chocolate-brown bow, in order to open up the pink box.
Nestled inside this was a pink organza bag, with the necklace obviously inside. It was like playing pass-the-parcel, but knowing that she was going to be the winner!
The silver chain is 16″ but can be adjusted to 14″. This means that it is the perfect size for Emily now, but will also grown with her. The lobster claw clasp holds the chain securely, so I don’t need to worry about her losing it, but is also easy to put on and take off. Emily loves the pretty little 1pt diamond at the centre of the kiss design. She felt very grown-up wearing this, and it complemented her pink dress that she chose to wear to her birthday party.
This is definitely not “play jewellery” and Emily realises that this will be worn for special occasions rather than dressing up. I love the classic design, and I think that this will go with so many different things. I am sure she will be wearing it more and more as she gets older. However, even though her collection will no doubt grow throughout the next few years, this will still be treasured as her first piece of jewellery.
