Mickey Mouse Roadster Racer RC Review
One of the TV programmes that the girls are currently enjoying is Mickey and the Roadster Racers on Disney Jnr. This basically involves Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Goofy taking part in a race each episode in their own unique, transforming vehicles. Mickey Mouse’s Roadster Racer is the Hot Doggin Hot Rod, and children can now have their own remote control Hot Doggin Hot Rod to race themselves. We were sent one for review.
The remote controlled Roadster Racer does look like Mickey’s Hot Doggin Hot Rod. It has a Mickey Mouse figure attached within the car, and comes with the remote control. It’s bright colours are eye-catching and the girls were desperate to play with it as soon as they saw it in the box. Getting it out of the box was slightly tricky, and I needed some sturdy scissors and a screwdriver to get it out.
I have to admit, once it was out of the box the car did feel a lot sturdier than I had expected it to be.
Both the car and the remote control needed batteries. I wasn’t too surprised, and the bottom of the box did mention them, but it required more fiddling around with a screwdriver. If you were buying this for a child, I would strongly recommend giving it to them already out of the box, ready to play. The car requires 5 AA batteries and the remote control needs 2 AAA batteries. Again, another reason to get this set up before giving it to a child so you can ensure you have enough batteries.
The Roadster Racer is really easy to drive. There are two controls – one for forwards and backwards, and one for left and right. It didn’t take too long for the girls to get the hang of what to do.
The car does seem to get through the batteries quickly. After a couple of days of being played with quite a bit, we needed to change the standard AAs that were first put in. It is definitely worth considering using rechargeable ones, and making sure the kids have switched off the car after playing with it. Thankfully, the remote control is still going well, and does turn itself off if it isn’t being used.
Regardless of this criticism, the girls love this car. They particularly enjoy playing it whilst Mickey and the Roadster Racers is on so that they can pretend that they are involved in the race.
