Looking forward to The Big Feastival
Over the last few years I have seen more and more about The Big Feastival cropping up over social media channels. I have to admit that I felt quite jealous of those there as they looked to be having such a great time. This year, The Big Feastival is back at Alex James’ farm for the seventh time over the August Bank Holiday weekend. And even better than that is that this is the year that we are going!
As is standard for any decent summer festival these days there will be plenty of music, including Craig David, Paloma Faith, Basement Jaxx, Tom Odell and recent X Factor winners Rak Su. I am most excited about The Undertones and The Bluetones though.
As you would expect, The Big Feastival promises to have lots of foodie delights! The festival will host two MASSIVE chefs – Marco Pierre White and Raymond Blanc OBE. I am in awe of Marco Pierre White who is the youngest chef to achieve three Michelin stars. I have loved his appearances on Masterchef Australia and I cannot wait to get the chance to see him in the flesh. The Big Feastival will also be welcoming chef, restauranteur and TV personality Gizzi Erskine, best-selling author and nutrition expert Jasmine Hemsley, master bakers Tom and Henry Herbet, and Great British Menu winner and Head Chef of Hicce, Pip Lacey into the festival kitchen.
You can even do some of the cooking yourself as the NEFF Cookaholics Cookery School offers a hands-on experience where visitors learn how to get creative in the kitchen and the NEFF Little Kitchen provides interactive cookery classes to encourage budding young chefs. Festival-goers who have worked up an appetite will enjoy the very best in British Street Food and have the chance to dine in the brand new Collaboration Kitchen, featuring limited edition collaboration menus from some of the most exciting names in the street food scene throughout the weekend. I am hungry already!
The Big Feastival is a very family-friendly event and there will be plenty to keep my girls entertained. Mine will be so excited at the prospect of meeting Paddington™, The Gruffalo and Peppa Pig. There will also be live entertainment from Justin Fletcher and CBeebies presenter Andy Day.
There will be a HUGE variety of activities to keep kids of all ages entertained throughout the weekend, with the Hasbro Village supplying a wonderland for kids with interactive play zones featuring Transformers, Play Doh, Nerf and My Little Pony. The Big Top will be offering Yellow Flamingo Yoga workshops, Calypso Kids jam sessions and Ninja Tots’ imaginative and animated take on martial arts! The Royal Shakespeare Company will be at the festival to offer little ones an introduction to Shakespeare with acting classes and The Makery will encourage everyone to get creative with the chance to make their own unique festival fashion accessories. Kids can also enjoy plenty of outdoor fun in The Little Dudes’ Den, try out Tree Climbing, join the Circus, take part in the Village Green Games or take a spin around the Vintage Fun Fair.
