I Run on Iron – Thanks to Spatone
I am no stranger to iron supplements. Becoming a vegetarian at the age of ten, I have tended to have low iron levels for most of my life. I can’t tell you how many times I went to give blood, only to find out that my iron levels were too low to do so. I had a similar experience during both pregnancies. Although I know what I should be eating in order to keep my iron levels up, with my hectic lifestyle it can be quite hard to manage to do this. As you can probably imagine, for 30 years, I have had periods of having to take iron supplements.
I am constantly on the go. I feel like I am always busy with work and with the girls. At the moment work is busy getting my exam classes prepared for their GCSEs and A Levels and then Parent Consultation Evenings can make the days much longer. Very often I feel tired and run down.
Spatone got in touch with me recently to see if I would like to try out their liquid iron supplement sachets. Spatone is naturally occurring iron rich water and is collected from Trefriw Wells Spa in Snowdonia, North Wales. I liked the convenience of these single use sachets. It meant that I could pop one into my bag and take it mid-morning, a few hours after eating, in order to help maintain my energy levels. Spatone helps to reduce tiredness, support a healthy immune system and normal cognitive function. It is also kinder on the stomach, with fewer of the unpleasant side effects that you can get with conventional iron supplements. What I really love about Spatone is that it doesn’t have that odd taste that you tend to get with iron supplements. Spatone Apple does just taste like apple juice, and what’s more is the additional vitamin C can help increase iron absorption.
Disclaimer: I was sent Spatone to try out for a month, but as always, all thoughts are my own!
