A helping hand on a day out with The Brug
Do you remember the days when you could just leave the house with your purse, phone and keys? Then, when you became a parent, it looked like you were going away for a weekend minibreak with all the stuff that had to accompany a trip out with a small person. I am so glad that the days of the changing bag are well and truly gone. But still, going out with the girls does usually still involve packing a bag.
As readers will know, we love enjoying the outdoors. We have so many lovely local places we enjoy visiting. It is nice to throw a few things together and have an impromptu day out somewhere. I was pretty excited to try out our new Brug from Wunderlife, that we had been sent to review. The Brug is a wonderfully innovative product which is both a bag and a rug.
As a bag, the Brug is large enough to carry a fair bit of kit, but still easy to carry using its sturdy shoulder straps.
As a rug, the Brug is brilliant. It is made of a waterproof, durable material which can be machine washed. Unlike the plastic-backed blankets that we have used in the past, any crumbs etc can easily be shaken off and not caught up in any woollen material. Setting it down on a damp wooden bench during an autumnal walk, means that there are no wet, muddy bottoms! And a muddy Brug is easily washed once you get home.
I love the idea that we can grab some food and drinks, pop them in the Brug and then unfold it into a rug. Snacks and a sit down is the best way to stop the girls whining on a walk. Fed, rested girls can then keep going for a bit longer.
The Brug will definitely be getting lots of use in future picnics. However, it will be perfect for trips to the beach. All the bits and pieces needed can be packed to take out. The you have an ideal beach mat, and when the weather fails us, everything can be packed up again very quickly. All you need to do is place all the items in the middle of the Brug, pull the drawstrings, fold over and zip up. Much faster that trying to cram things into a bag when you need to beat a hasty retreat!! As the Brug takes up very little space when it is being stored, it will also be really useful when we have our next camping trip.
I can see the Brug getting a lot of use in the future. Do keep your eyes peeled for it in future posts! If you are stuck for a present for an “outdoorsy” family, you won’t go wrong with a Brug. Check them out on Amazon here.
