CraftBox Fairy Charm Jewellery
Freyja adores crafts. She is really into making jewellery at the moment. She loves making bead bracelets, which she often gives to her friends at school. We have even had bracelet-making sessions when she has had friends over to play. She was completely up for trying out this new CraftBox Fairy Charm Jewellery kit from Interplay we were sent recently.
The kit comes with over 300 beads in different styles and colours, 12 fairy-themed charms, 5m of stretchy cord, clasps and clasp beads and an instruction booklet. There is enough here to make at least ten pieces of jewellery.
The instruction book provides some nice inspiration for different bracelets and necklaces. However, with something like this I believe it is really important to let your child’s creativity flow. Freyja chose a charm she liked and picked out some beads. She then decided what order to put them in and we laid them out on the table in front of her. Freyja needed help putting the charm onto the charm ring. She was able to thread the beads onto the stretchy cord. However, she did get frustrated doing this for some of the smaller beads. She also needed help holding one end of the cord so that the beads that she had already threaded on didn’t fall off.
Although Freyja has just been using this kit herself, this would be perfect to get out when she has friends round. There is plenty in here for several children to make their own necklaces and bracelets. It would also keep them quiet in the process!
As well as being able to produce some nice little pieces of jewellery, this kit is great for building dexterity, concentration skills and creativity. It costs £9.99 which I think is good value. As well as being able to buy the Fairy Charm Jewellery kit, Interplay also do Snow Fairy, Snow Flake and Mermaid Charm Jewellery kits. I wouldn’t hesitate in getting one of these for Freyja too. Emily is still a little too young for one herself, but she has been eye-ing this up. I have a feeling that she would love to make her own fairy-themed jewellery!
