Child-friendly Stays at Cheddar Woods
When we had children, I thought we would have to kiss goodbye to those luxurious mini-breaks that we would take in the days before kids, however, after our recent stay at Cheddar Woods Resort and Spa I have found that it is possible to combine an affordable, luxury break with a child-friendly holiday.
I have already discussed the quality accomodation available at Cheddar Woods in a previous post. The lodges at Cheddar Woods are perfect for a family holiday – the girls were able to have their own bedroom so once they were in bed, Rich and I were able to relax in the living area and watch TV or chill out in the hot tub. The kitchen was well-equipped enabling us to cook family meals, and the dishwasher meant that we could spend less time washing dishes and more time enjoying our holiday. Finally, the bath is pretty much essential when staying any more than a night anywhere with small children.
There was plenty to entertain the kids at Cheddar Woods. During our stay, the weather wasn’t great so we stuck to indoor activities. The girls had lots of fun in the heated swimming pool and playing in the soft play area – almost as much fun as their daddy did from the looks of it!
There was also a bowling alley and a fantastic outdoor play area which the girls would have loved had the weather allowed them to explore it. The emphasis at Cheddar Lodge is definitely geared towards getting active outside, with activities such as archery and rock climbing available, however, if the weather isn’t great, it is possible to hire Nintendo Wii consoles, games and DVDs.
The great thing about the lodge is having your own private hot tub – something that can still be enjoyed even in a light rain shower! Freyja was so excited about having a go in the hot tub, ever since she found out that there would be one at the lodge. It was lovely to have some mummy-daughter time together in the hot tub, chilling out together. Freyja was in her element, chatting and singing, really happy to spend some quality time with me.
There was plenty available at Cheddar Woods to offer a luxurious, relaxing break for adults, whilst still being able to cater for the kids. I would have no reservations about staying at Cheddar Woods again, for a longer break, and know that we wouldn’t have a couple of bored children on our hands. The only thing I would change about the break would be to have some drier weather so we could go and explore the beautiful surroundings!
Disclaimer: We were invited to stay at Cheddar Woods Resort and Spa in exchange for an honest review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are our own and I would thoroughly recommend a stay here.
