Cheltenham Food and Drink Festival 2019
Last year we had such a great time at the Cheltenham Food and Drink Festival. The girls really enjoyed a Punch & Judy show whilst Rich and I chilled out together, enjoying the food, drink and relaxed atmosphere of the festival. I introduced Rich to “frickles” from Simpson’s Fish and Chips, which he loved, but then meant I had to share them with him. However, local distillers Sibling Gin were also at the Festival, so I enjoyed their G&Ts to make up for the loss of half my frickles!
The Cheltenham Food and Drink Festival is back in 2019 between 14th and 16th of June. Once again it will be held in Montpellier Gardens, and there will be a wide range of food and drink to try alongside lots of great entertainment for all the family.
Local chefs from some of the leading restaurants and hotels in the area will be showcasing local and regional food with demonstrations in the Chef’s Kitchen Theatre. There will also be food and drink talks covering many subjects ranging from Plastic pollution to Micro Greens to cider to gluten free to Beer made from left over bread to Whisky. There will also be the ever-popular Wine Masterclasses and Tasting sessions. These are sponsored by multi award-winning Rioja winery, Bodegas Beronia, and are subject to an additional cost, so make sure you book tickets for these quickly!
I am also very excited that there will be Cheese masterclasses, run in association with Heritage Cheese and Slow Food UK. These will last around an hour and will have plenty of cheese to sample whilst finding out about the fascinating stories behind them. Each masterclass is matched with matching wine, beer, cider or spirits, with apple juice available for children and anyone who doesn’t wish to drink. It sounds like my idea of heaven!!
Over the three days there will be live Music, Children’s entertainment and Street Theatre. My girls will be happy that Punch & Judy will be back again, and with a huge selection of food from Thai to Indian to the tastes of Gloucestershire along with the traditional Real Ale and Cider from local Breweries and the Champagne & Prosecco Bar, it makes for a great place to hang out with family and friends.
Tickets can be bought on the gate, but are cheaper if purchased in advance here (last day of sale is 8th June). Adult tickets are £4 on Friday and £6 on Saturday or Sunday. Children under 16 are free. Tickets include free entry to Chef Cookery Theatre, Food Lovers Marquees, Real Ale and Cider Marquee, Festival Music Stage and the Beronia International Wine Theatre (although some of the Masterclasses do have an additional charge).
