For a long time now, Freyja has talked about wanting to be a teacher when she is older. I have written about how torn I feel about this. Two years ago she dressed up as a teacher for Aspirations Day at school. She had the lanyard, travel mug (without the coffee) and bag of marking.
Things have changed a little since then. For Aspirations Day this year, she has modified her career choice slightly. Although she still wants to be a teacher, now she wants to be a dance teacher. We ditched the marking and travel mug for leg warmers and a “straw microphone”.
Emily approached Aspirations Day in a slightly different way. Emily wants to be a Rock Star. So Emily went to school on Asirations Day as a Rock Star. I mean, Emily’s hair is pretty much Rock Star all the time. She loves singing “Livin’ on a Prayer” because we used to sing it to her after blow-drying her hair as she looked like Jon Bon Jovi from the ’80s. Anyway, with her sunglasses and double-denim, she did look very much like a Rock Star. She came back from school very proud of the fact that she was “the only Rock Star in the school!”
Not long after Aspirations Day, the Reception Classes had a visit from the police, telling them all about their job. Emily loved it! Apparently she got to go in “the cage” in the police van. Hopefully for the only time in her life! Since then, she has readjusted her career plan since then. She likes the idea of being “a police”, but won’t give up the dream of Rock Star. She also wants to combine it with her love of sloths. Here is Emily’s plans for her future:
Monday: Be a police person.
Tuesday: Rock Star!!
Wednesday. Have a rest.
Thursday: Look after sloths.
Friday: Have a chill-out.
Saturday and Sunday: Make tickets for her next show.
Completely crazy, but I wouldn’t expect any less from Emily!
